Ballymaloe House (Midleton)

Ballymaloe House is a family-run country house hotel famous for its outstanding hospitality and superb food. The 17th century house built onto a Norman keep is nestled in a 400 acre estate in rural East Cork. Ballymaloe House is only 20 miles from the historic city of Cork, and minutes from the breathtaking south coast.

Myrtle and Ivan Allen bought the hotel in 1948 and since then many of their children and grandchildren live and work near Ballymaloe.

Services and activities:

Are you a sport fan? Then Ballymaloe House is for you. It offers a small golf course on the premises and is within easy reach of several other championship golf courses, as well as a tennis court and free rental bikes.

The hotel also has an outdoor heated pool that can be used during the summer months.

If you want to take a break but you are worried about your children? Don't worry, the Ballymaloe House offers babysitting services and an outdoor children's play area.

To organise any kind of event, this hotel is perfect: it has conference, party and wedding facilities.

One of the things that has made this hotel so famous is its restaurant: the food is largely produced at the farm that the family owns and it has won high recommendation in all important food and restaurant guides.

The family also owns a shop, the Ballymaloe Shop, which is located at Ballymaloe House. Here you will find a range of Irish designer crafts, wool blankets and scarves, cook books, kitchen accessories, bake-ware, kitchen and dining textiles, pottery, pots, saucepans, knives, food and lots more.
