Centerhotel Thingholt This well located and managed property is the newest of Reykjaviks new breed of boutique hotel and has been done up to a very high standard. CenterHotel Thingholt has been nominated a couple of times as the boutique hotel of the year by World Travel Awards and come highly recommended. Location This hotel is situated just off Reykjavik's main shopping street Laugarvegur in a narrow side street. Perfect location and as central as you can get with shopping, restaurants and bars just around the corner. Distance 3 kms to the nearest airport (reykjavík metropolitan area) 2 minute walk to the nearest bus stop 4 km to the nearest beach Rooms The rooms are around 20 square metres in size. All rooms are non-smoking. Designed by a Los Angeles based Icelandic interior designer, Gulla J nsd ttir, they are decorated with stylish state-of-the-art furniture and predominantly black and white colour schemes, though many of the rooms and notably the bathrooms have bare rendered walls. Some of the rooms on the top floor have characterful sloping ceilings and dormer windows. They are in exceptional conditions as are the funky modern bathrooms. Si Restaurant Centerhotel Thingholt went through a major renovation 2013 and have a brand new restaurant inhouse - Ísafold Bistro. This is a great trendy and modern restaurant where the menu differs around the year to intoduce in-season products. Exterior This hotels exterior is a mix of glass, wood and grey concrete which creates a facade which is modern yet traditional and where you can clearly see the influence the Icelandic nature has had. Lobby The lobby is chic, modern and stylish, a great example of Icelandic contemporary interior design. When entering the hotel there?s a long black lava textured wall, covered in dark glass masks representing the hidden people of Iceland and a small waterfall trickling down over them.
