Welcome to Mount Koyasan

Mount Koya (Koyasan in Japanese) is the center of one of the most important Buddhist sect in Japan, the Shingon Buddhism. On the mountaintop, you will find a small hidden town made of temples with among them the head temple of Shingon Buddhism: Kongobuji. Enjoy the unique experience of staying at a temple lodging (shukubo) for the night and try to live as an authentic monk, eating vegetarian monk's cuisine and attending the daily prayers.
