The Midland The hotel boasts a prime location in Manchester city centre. Rooms vary in style from floor to floor with some seductively furnished with dark wooden features and plum soft furnishings, whereas others are brighter in style with neutral and gold decor. Each of the rooms is equipped with air conditioning, personal tea and coffee making, mini-bar, Wi-Fi technology, in-house movies, and flat-screen TVs. ## Restaurant There are three eating establishments on site. The main restaurant is French and is the recipient of two AA Rosettes and serves traditional French cuisine with an English twist. The restaurant has maintained an elegant decor for which to dine in. The Colony restaurant was relaunched in November 2006 following a complete refurbishment. This stylish brasserie offers a delicious a la carte menu of modern European cuisine. Wyvern Bar is a matchless venue for cocktails, while the elegant Octagon Lounge serves drinks, deliciously creative light snacks, and the ultimate in afternoon tea. ## Exterior The hotel is a very old, traditional building that once belonged to the Midland railway company. It has always been well maintained to a high standard. The hotel has undergone major renovations and the building is in excellent condition. ## Lobby The reception area is large, with ceramic pillars, tiled floors and a large sky light, which lets in natural daylight. There is a large seating area near the bar where food is served throughout the day.
